A trip to visit relatives in Huntington, West Virginia led Amb. Quinn to an unanticipated appointment with a local physician, who, in a ten-minute test completely resolved his medical problem. The doctor gave him a letter which led to him being accepted as a new Foreign Service Officer and beginning his State Department career in August 1967.
