Amb. Quinn explains how during his tour as the District Senior Advisor of Duc Ton District in Sa Dec Province, his U.S. Army advisory team interacted with American Naval elements in confronting the Vietcong insurgency: arranging nighttime air strikes by OV-10 aircraft known by their call sign Black Pony; and operating with “brown water navy” small patrol boats like the PBRs and Swift Boats, including one memorable mission with a Vietcong defector, who guided him to raid an enemy headquarters several provinces away.
