Amb. Quinn recalls his first two years in Vietnam during which he was unexpectedly thrust into a life-saving situation. Responding to a late-night urgent report about injured Americans, he drove down an unsecured road to render assistance to U.S. military personnel. While the Americans were not hurt, he arranges for an urgent helicopter evacuation for two critically injured Vietnamese citizens, whose car had been crushed by the U.S. Army truck. A week later, a Vietnamese man asks to see Amb. Quinn at his compound in Duc Ton. Speaking Vietnamese, he unexpectedly hugs Amb. Quinn, while thanking him for saving his life.
