Amb Quinn describes his interaction with Sgt. Bobby Chase of his advisory team, who originally said to him “There are no civilians in my chain of command.” After taking Sgt. Chase with him on a helicopter operation deep into the Viet Cong base area and experiencing the danger and hardship of passing through enemy jungle- redoubts, Sgt. Chase asks to make a statement. He tells Amb. Quinn that since “you did what I did, you are my leader. I will follow you anywhere.” Amb. Quinn had earned the respect of Sgt. Chase and all of the other members of the Duc ton advisory team by taking the same risks and experiencing the same dangers that they all faced.
